Russian State Geological Exploration University named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze. XI International Scientific Conference of Young Scientists
“Youth in Earth Sciences”
April 3, 2025
On April 3, 2025, a scientific report titled “Diagnostic Features of Yellow Diamonds” was presented by Evgeny A. Vasiliev, Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, Leading Researcher and Associate Professor at St. Petersburg Mining University. The event took place at the Department of Mineralogy and Gemology of the Sergo Ordzhonikidze State Geological Prospecting University.
Report topic:
“Peculiarities of diagnostics of yellow diamonds”
Using, among others, AVRORA DIAMOND INSPECTOR V1 and AVRORA DIAMOND INSPECTOR S2 devices, which are superior to foreign analogues in their characteristics, a comprehensive study of two oval-cut yellow diamonds and CR 57 was carried out to determine their natural or synthetic origin by spectral photoluminescence analysis methods in the range of 200-1000 nm.
The studied diamonds have signs of both natural and synthetic origin, however being synthetic according to the analysis results. It is possible to grow synthetic diamonds on bulk natural seed.
In the course of the report the results of sample analysis on the new modern equipment AVRORA DIAMOND INSPECTOR were shown, as well as the spectral composition of impurities that provide the above characteristics of the studied samples.

On April 4, 2025 at the practical conference at the Department of Gemology and Mineralogy of MGRI there was a discussion and discussion of the results and methods of analysis of gemstones and minerals using AVRORA DIAMOND INSPECTOR devices produced by the Russian company Diamond STC LLC.
The wide possibilities and peculiarities of using spectral and photoluminescence analysis methods used in ADI V1 and ADI S2 devices, which allow to identify the origin of gemstones and minerals, were demonstrated.
